3 cups ground cherries
1 ¼ cup water
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup sugar, plus 2 Tbsp.
Cook all together until nearly done, add 4 Tbsp cornstarch (in a little water). Cook until smooth, add 1 Tbsp butter, remove from heat. Add 1 tsp lemon juice. Cool completely before pouring into a 9” unbaked pie shell.
Top with:
¼ cup flour, ¼ cup quick oatmeal, ¼ cup brown sugar, and 2 Tbsp butter.
Mix well. Spread over top of pie. Bake 15 minutes in 425° oven. Reduce heat to 370° for 20 min. or until nice and brown.
